CHARITY IN BLOOM

Tillie’s Charity in Bloom

MISSION STATEMENT

A strong commitment to our community has been important to the Tillie’s Family
since Grandpa Kuchenmeister opened our first greenhouse/store in 1876. The
Charity in Bloom program was more recently created to increase awareness and
raise funds for individual non-profit organizations who work to improve health and
wellness of children and families in the Wichita area. Each month, proceeds from
our custom-designed arrangements are shared with our partner organization to
support their initiatives.

December 2017 Recipient

Through the Charity In Bloom program, Tillie's will contribute 20% of the purchase price from the Charity In Bloom bouquet collection sold during the month of December 2017 to the Wichita Children's Home.  WCH has been serving children since 1888, and every supporter is part of that 129-year legacy. The Wichita Children’s Home is always open to children who have been abused, neglected, abandoned, exploited, trafficked or left homeless. About 1,200 a year arrive with just the clothes they are wearing, taken into police protective custody because their current situations are unsafe. Others are “aging out” of foster care and lack the resources and skills to live on their own. Some are pregnant and parenting and need help caring for their young child, staying in school, finding employment and breaking the destructive cycles in their lives. With help from community partners and caring individuals, every year the Wichita Children’s Home provides more than 1,500 children and youth in crisis with a safe place to sleep, clean clothes and shoes that fit, therapeutic care, academic support, life and job skills, case management, advocacy and more.
